The Germany v Poland match last night was the half-way point of the Group Stage at EURO16 – it’s all down hill now in the race for Section One Honours in our predictions game.
In their first match of the tournament Italy showed FIFA’s number two team (Belgium) how it should be done. Like Germany, you can never write-off Italy at major international tournaments. Their second group match pits them against Sweden, who didn’t manage one shot on target against the Republic of Ireland, but still managed a 1-1 draw after Ciaran Clark buried a header past his own keeper!
Comparing the performances of the two teams in those opening group matches, you’d have to conclude that Italy are clear favourites in this one. As far as our game goes, just one person has tipped Sweden for glory (Jemma), while seven have plumped for a draw. Of the predictions for an Italian win, five have gone for 1-0.
Second match up is the Czech Republic v Croatia. In their first match the Czech’s gave a good account of themselves and only losing out narrowly to Spain 1-0.
