2017/18 – Game 01 – Round 21: The Last Hurrah

We’ve reached the end of the line for Game 01 of the 2017/18 season.

There are just nine matches in the final round after the Tottenham v West Ham match was moved to Thursday 04 January and out of Game 01. That probably means that the 16 points score by Damian Chapman in Round 15 will be enough to hold on to the One-Round-Wonder prize of £28.35.

On Saturday we’ll be treated to six matches at three o’clock, followed by the teatime match (Man Utd v Southampton) at half-five. Sunday sees the final two matches of Game 01 when Palace host the unstoppable Man City and Arsenal travel to the Midlands to face WBA.

Race for the Title

Jamie Sawyer’s (155 points) lead is down to just three points from Martin Hayman (152) going into the last round, so it really is all to play for in those last nine matches. Having been there or thereabouts for weeks, Darren Bellamy (150) and Martin Gayton (147) will also be feeling they’re in with an outside chance of top spot come New Years Day.

Player of the Month

Just six points cover the top seven in the hunt for December’s Player of the Month prize (£14.18) from Darren Bellamy (49 points) at the top down to Mike Hodgson (43). Martin Hayman (48) will be hoping his recent good form will be enough to take the monthly title as well as the overall title come the end of the month.

Tenth Place

Don’t forget, there’s also £28.35 awarded to the player who finishes in tenth place. Chris Eastment (currently in ninth place with 136 points) has previously twice finished in that very position – maybe it’s some kind of tactic that he deliberately employs! Realistically, anyone down to Jason Brown in 14th could be harbouring thoughts of a payout for tenth.

Game 02

Premier Predictions Game 02 of the 2017/18 season will start on the 13th January 2018 – this is to give the admins i.e. me, the opportunity to close down Game 01 and set-up Game 02. Invitations and the opportunity to update your membership will be sent out in the next few days.
